#74 Baritone 8-string

#74, 8-string baritone guitar with Kahler tremolo, front view.

Japan, August 2013.

To suit very low tunings, a regular 8-string guitar would give problems with string tension. For #74 we decided to use a baritone scale, around 30.3" to get the string length between a regular guitar and a bass guitar. The instrument is built up around a neckblock that runs through the body, an eight string Kahler tremolo and eight Schaller locking tuners. The tuners are customized so the lowest 0.080 bass string can be fit without problems. The customer wanted to have a more traditional body shape, and passive electronics that fits both rock and jazz styles. The pickup is a custome made 8-string Lollar humbucker with a focus on 70s jazzrock. As a personal touch, the neck has an inlay at the 12th position, specified by the customer
