#55 Console Lap Steel

#55, table shaped lap steel guitar with two necks, made from wengé, with legs. Front view.

France, November 2011.

Double lap steel, with a longer stringlenth (650mm). The design is loosely based on old console lap steel guitars. Because of the different height levels, the heads can be taken off for maintenance. The instrument is designed to be used in lower baritone tunings. The longer string length compensates the lower string tension. EMG-x pickups are used for a noice-free signal. The legs can be removed and wooden clamps can be added for stability.
