Wood - khaya Mahonie

De Junior Slide lap steel has a body made of khaya mahogany (Khaya ivorensis). Khaya is an African wood, that does not belong to the swietenia species (like Honduras mahogany), but still belongs to the mahogany-familly (Meliaceae), like sapeli mahonie. Khaya has a lighter weight than other mahogany species, and a nice red-brown color after finishing with oil, with sometimes red details in the endgrain. The wood produces a steady warm tone with enough sustain, not so agressive.

Wood - zebra wood

The Slide King lap steel has a body made from zebra wood (Microberlinia bisulcata), a tree growing in the tropical West of Africa. Zebrano is a heavy weight wood with a unique stripe pattern. The wood is very suitable for oil finish. As solid wood for a lap steel, it produces a lot of sustain and a very nice warm round tone.

Wood - African padouk

The body of the Deco Slide lap steel is made from African padouk (Pterocarpus soyauxii). This is a very stable and beautiful African wood with orange (fresh cut) to red colors. The color of the wood turns more brown due to sunlight. Because of the special oil we use on the Deco Slide lap steel, the color stays dark red. The yound wood is cream white, and can give a spectaculair patern when used in an instrument. Padouk produces a clear tone, and gives a bit of natural compression in the sound.
